Please Be Bear, Coyote & Bobcat Aware
We are so fortunate to be sharing this
beautiful area with our precious wildlife.
Please do what it takes to keep our residents and wildlife safe.
There have been recent sightings of bears and coyotes throughout Caughlin Ranch. There is currently a mother bear and her cub scavenging for food in the lower greenbelt areas. The NV Division of Wildlife (NDOW) called this morning to remind us not to photograph or follow bears, especially when there is a cub. Also, never feed or attempt to lure bears.
Beware of bears and other wildlife while you are walking in the neighborhoods and on the trails; Morning, Noon and Night! Be particularly cautious of coyotes; they will stalk a leashed pet. Raccoons are particularly fond of fish ponds and coy fish.
NEVER PLACE YOUR TRASH OR RECYCLE CONTAINER OUT FOR PICK-UP ANY SOONER THAN TUESDAY MORNING, NEVER!
THE ONLY EXCEPTION IS FOR RESIDENTS WHO HAVE PURCHASED APPROVED ANIMAL-RESISTANT CONTAINERS.
REMOVE BIRD FEEDERS BEFORE DUSK; SEED AND LIQUID. THEY ARE HUGE BEAR ATTRACTORS!
REMOVE RIPE FRUIT FROM TREES IMMEDIATELY. BEARS LOVE FRUIT!
NEVER LEAVE ANY STORED OR PET FOOD OUTSIDE; THIS INCLUDES IN VEHICLES. BEARS HAVE AN AMAZING SENSE OF SMELL!
NEVER SHOOT OR ATTEMPT TO HARM A BEAR; THE DISCHARGE OF WEAPONS IN CAUGHLIN RANCH IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED!
NDOW WILL NOT SET A TRAP FOR A NUISANCE BEAR IF A RESIDENT IS NOT FOLLOWING THE CRHA RULES AND NDOW RECOMMENDATIONS WHICH HAVE RESULTED IN ATTRACTING BEARS.
