Reno New Year’s Eve: Party Hard, Travel Safely
Only two days left in 2017. How will you say goodbye to the old and ring in the new? Party at a friend’s house? A late dinner at Atlantis? Fireworks downtown? So many New Year’s Eve events to choose from here in Reno! Go out. Have a great time. Just remember that on a Reno New Year’s Eve, you can party hard. But you always need to travel safely.
Reno New Year’s Eve: Safe Travel Tips
By making a plan ahead of time, you and your loved ones get to enjoy a fantastic night out this Reno New Year’s Eve and still make it back home safely. That should be everyone’s goal for the night. Some plans take no money at all. Others might mean a dip in your wallet. But it’ll still be less than a DUI. And it’s certainly less than the cost of someone’s life. Here are a few ideas to help you formulate your safe travel this Reno New Year’s Eve.
Do you have that one friend that loves to have a good time but doesn’t drink? Ask them to be the designated driver. If there are no “tea-totallers” in your group, select one of you to be the responsible one for the evening. They will be responsible for making sure everyone gets deposited at their own Reno home at the end of the night in a safe and sober manner. HINT: Many bars, restaurants, and lounges offer a designated driver special. It doesn’t hurt to ask.
Hire a Limo
Nobody wants to be the “responsible” one for the night? Plan on spending the evening with a large group of friends? Hire a limo for the night. Unfortunately, this close to New Year’s Eve, that may be difficult. So…
RTC’s SafeRIDE Program
For more than 30 years now, the RTC offers its patrons free rides on New Year’s Eve. From 6 pm to 2 am Sunday night, riders can take the bus for free anywhere they service. However, they don’t run everywhere. You’ll need to check their service locations and scheduled stop times to map out your route for the evening. You don’t want to be left stranded. For a look at their schedule this Reno New Year’s Eve, visit the RTC Safe Ride website.
They only recently started their Uber Eats food delivery service. But Uber Reno has serviced the area for a couple of years now. Download their app today from Google Play or the iTunes store. Sign up for an Uber account. When you’re ready for service, open your app, follow the instructions, and you’re good to go! They’ll take you from point A to point B with a clear, sober mind.
I want to wish everyone a very Happy New Year. Have fun. Just make sure you have a plan already in place to ensure you and your loved ones make it home at the end of the night. You want to start 2018 off in your own bed, not a hospital bed or a morgue. Cheers!
